About Dixie Camp

The mission of SCV Dixie Camp #2362is to preserve, cultivate, and perpetuate the True History of The South, as passed down to us by our esteemed forefathers, passing onward unto our anxious posterity.  We take our inspiration from The Charge given to us by Lt. General Stephen Dill Lee, Commander-in-Chief of the United Confederate Veterans, addressing the 16th annual meeting of the United Confederate Veterans in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 25, 1906:

“To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we will commit the vindication of the cause for which we fought. To your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier’s good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles which he loved and which you love also, and those ideals which made him glorious and which you also cherish.”

In response, the officers and men of Dixie Camp #2362:

  • We struggle to ensure that the great controversies ultimately leading our section to disunion in 1860, the travails we suffered in the War Between the States, and the heroic acts and contributions of the soldiers of the Confederacy throughout those painful years, are plainly set before the people, authentically written, and universally respected.

  •  We strive to promote a more general appreciation of the achievements of the manifold generations of southern ancestors before us, from the foundation of Jamestown in 1607 onward into this present era.  This we do vigorously, using all manner and mode of communication, print, broadcast, and digital, including the most modern internet-based and social media.

  •  We treasure and preserve for posterity all documents, relics, and mementos produced and handed down to us by our Confederate ancestors and all their brothers and sisters who fought and died for The Cause.

  • We have associated into one single, united, compact body of men blessed with Confederate ancestry, cultivating, perpetuating, and sanctifying the ties of fraternity and friendship following therefrom. We pledge to instill our descendants with a devotion to and reverence for the principles represented by the Confederate States of America, to the honor, glory, and memory of our forefathers who fought for it.

  • We aid and assist in the erection of suitable and enduring monuments and memorials to all Southern valor, civil and military, wherever done and where found.  We care for and maintain the final resting places of our Confederate soldiers, marking their graves with flags, Confederate headstones, and Crosses of Honor as appropriate.
